ITV1 (UK) seems to have discovered a new story form. Beginning with Fallen Angel last week, Mobile (Mon 19 Mar) is another three part drama with a common thread linking three separate stories – in this case, conspiracies concerning mobile / cell phones.
Last night’s opening episode saw a man with months to live descend into violence against mobile phone users after getting cancer from using them. Or did he? Indeed, did he do the violence? This is the enigma.
Mobile seems to be a drama placing social issues alongside an action thriller cum whodunit. At present, it seems to be going well. Although it approached the ridiculous when a therapist was seen seemingly giving instructions for the next attack. Or did it?
I suspect Mobile is going into MK-Ultra territory, but with a techno theme. MK-Ultra was a supposed US government conspiracy to brain wash people into carrying out assassinations. JFK and the rest were said to be the targets.
After one episode, Mobile is OK, but we’ll have to see if IT remains on target.
